Julia Linstead

Julia uses a palette of vibrant colours within the crystal and then sandblasts a unique pattern into the surface of the glass. Her designs are drawn from nature especially the native flora and fauna of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Julia produces one off pieces and commission work along with the repeatable work shown in the Gallery.
"I think changing light on coloured crystal is magical. I love working on the surface with sandblasting to create reflections, illusions and depth, to complement the clean shapes of the bowls. I really enjoy the collaboration with Jane as each bowl is different and has a vitality and energy within the form."

Julia has been in business since 1989, moving to the Hirsel in 1993. She regularly exhibits in galleries across Great Britain and has pieces in several public collections.
