Niki Bowers
After completing a BA(Hons) degree, Niki Bowers worked for many years as a graphic designer before returning to Norfolk to pursue a freelance career and later turning to printmaking.
Her limited edition linocut prints reflect the landscape and wildlife of rural Norfolk, with its distinctive trees, hedgerows and plant forms throughout the year. Wide skies reflect seasons and weather, and often include swirling flocks of wild birds. Using traditional methods, linocut prints are made from hand-cut blocks, usually a separate block for each colour. Linseed oil-based ink is then applied by hand roller and the blocks printed in succession. Initial trial proofing is followed by further cutting and adjustment before the edition is printed.
