Chrissy produced her first etching plate in 1999 and has found it to be the ideal medium to express her love of drawing and tonal studies.
She works in a traditional way using soft or hard ground on copper or zinc with aquatint, etched in acid. Much of her work is printed using coloured inks blended on one etching plate, carefully wiped and then passed through an etching press. Nothing is added to them afterwards.
Subject matter is usually based on her constant fascination for trees and she looks for patterns formed by branches, twigs and shadows. She is also inspired by the East Anglian coastline and the effect of light and season on the landscape. Chrissy is a member of Sudbourne Park Printmakers, a printmaking co-operative based near Orford, Suffolk and uses their workshops to make up her etching plates.
Home and studio is near the Suffolk coast.
