Emily Ketteringham
Emily is a screenprinter and maker living and working in Bristol. She has a studio at Centrespace in the heart of the Old City, and am a member of Spike Print Studio.
My work is about layering and precision, it is often inspired geology and rocks. The overarching theme that unites all my work is my love and exploration of colour.
Working with very translucent inks, I enjoy exploring the space between control and chance – mixing very precise colours, but then embracing the new colours that are created when they overlap on the paper (if you would like to know more about my process, there is a short video at the bottom of this page).
I have a MA in Multidisciplinary Print, and another in Design, both from University of West of England, Bristol.
“My Bristol panoramas celebrate the fabulous views and varied architecture of the city. Bristol is an amazing city full of historic buildings and iconic views. Fabulous panoramic views open up unexpectedly before you, giving you glimpses of Bristol’s industrial past jumbled in with the beautiful coloured terraces and the huge mix of architectural styles that make up the city. I love it, and try to capture all that colour and eclectic space in my drawings.”
“Painting various Gromits, Shauns and a Wallace for all the Grand Appeal Trails made me very proud, but it’s the large public art project that I completed for the Bristol Old Vic redevelopment that makes me feel like a proper Bristolian.”
