Jane Walker
Jane studied illustration and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee before following a career in design at the BBC in London.
Jane uses the reduction linocut technique to produce handmade limited edition prints. Jane’s watercolour paintings began as sketches for linocuts to establish colour and composition. They are approached the same way as her linocuts working from light to dark, using the paint both as transparent and opaque. The paintings allow for more subtle colour combinations and finer detail and so now work alongside her printmaking practice as one discipline feeds the other.
Her work reveals a fascination with still life and the richness of her palette and her strong graphic sensibility reflect her love of 20th century artists and craftsmen, 50s textile design and Scandinavian ceramics.
Jane is an elected associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
