Safe Crossing by Karolina Larusdottir
Karolina Larusdottir b.1944 - d.2019 Reykjavik, Iceland
She studied at the Sir John Cass College, London (1964-65), the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford (1965-67) and Barking College of Art (1977-80). Her watercolours, oil paintings and hand-made etchings are often inspired by her childhood in Iceland. Her grandfather's hotel in Reykjavik has provided a wealth of imagery. In some works she created a world of her own with imagined people in strange situations. Her work contains a wry humour that enhances the surreal and timeless qualities she creates when dealing with her favourite topic, people.
