Lesley Birch was born in Glasgow 1958.
“I realise my previous life as a musician informs the marks in my paintings – a flick of a brush, a sweep of thick paint – all are efforts to create a harmony in colour and gesture. I’m aiming to create atmospheric, emotive paintings with a lyrical feel. I like to work in series and often on paper using different media ranging from oils, oil pastels and inks to acrylics and pure pigments. I relish an expressive brush mark and layers of colour. The power of Nature and her Seasons are my inspiration - from wild coasts to bountiful blossoming in my garden.”
