Sean Thornhill
Sean is an artist and designer based in Cambridgeshire, working from his garden studio.
Drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus and Brutalism movements, Sean's art features a distinctive geometric style that dances with shadows and highlights. The interplay of daylight on his pieces reveals ever-changing compositions. His signature designed large relief artworks are crafted from layered shapes, designed meticulously on a computer using vector software. Sean creates small-scale prototypes, allowing him to explore the composition in 3D before committing to the final piece. Once he is confident in his design, he produces detailed plan drawings, these are then used as templates for the final art, which he cuts by hand with a craft blade, or a laser-cutter for any intricate shapes to ensure precision. The artwork is then assembled and finished with a chalk based paint.
